UFC Results: Silva Earns Split Decision in Front of Madadi’s Home Crowd

The UFC returned to Stockholm, Sweden for a special Sunday edition of UFC Fight Night.

In the main event, Sweden’s own Alexander Gustafsson fights fellow former title challenger Glover Teixeira.

Before the pivotal light heavyweight fight, the UFC once again stacked the card with numerous intriguing matchups.

The FOX Sports 1 prelims featured a lightweight fight between prospect Joaquim Silva and Reza Madadi.

Both fighters were hesitant to engage at the start of the fight. Madadi eventually took Silva down, but Silva got right back up. Shortly after, Madadi landed another takedown. This time Madadi managed to secure top position. The round ended with Silva fighting from the bottom, but failing to get back to his feet.

The second round started with Silva landing a high kick that knocked Madadi to the ground, but he got right back up. Madadi then landed a few hard punches of his own, but Silva retaliated. Madadi landed a brutal spinning back elbow, but Silva barely flinched. Silva later hit a flurry of shots but did not produce much damage. The round ended with both Madadi dodging flying knee attempts from Silva.

Both fighters landed body kicks to start the final round. Madadi then landed a takedown. Silva went for a guillotine choke but Madadi escaped. Silva worked with way back to his feet but was quickly taken back to the ground. Silva later reversed the position and got back to his feet. Silva then knocked Madadi down and jumped onto his back. Madadi managed to escape and get to his feet. He then went for a takedown, but Silva reversed the position and landed on top of Madadi. At the end of the fight, Silva went for a guillotine choke but Madadi escaped. Madadi went for another takedown, but Silva landed on top once again.
