UFC Hall-of-Famer and two time former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes has suffered an accident. Driving over train tracks, Hughes’ vehicle was struck by a train on the passenger side. Hughes is reported to have suffered head trauma and serious injuries.
Following the accident, Matt Hughes was airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Hughes is reported to have entered a coma. However, the fighter has now returned to consciousness.
As reported by MMA Fighting, Monte Cox has revealed “He is awake, but eyes closed,” Cox said. “Can squeeze hands.”
This is fantastic news, though Hughes still likely has a long road to recovery, any good news is welcomed.
