John Kavanagh, the head coach of UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor, believes it will be hard to find fair officials for a boxing match between McGregor and Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
“If I’m speaking plainly, and I don’t know how much trouble this will get me in, I think we’re going to have a hard time finding a fair referee and a fair set of judges,” Kavanagh told ESPN.
“It will be very difficult for a 50- to 60-year-old boxing referee to not go into this bout a little bit biased.”
Despite having never fought in a professional boxing match, McGregor has agreed to a deal to compete against Mayweather. Now, UFC President Dana White is working on trying to go get a deal finalized with Mayweather.
White has recently said he believes the boxing match will come to fruition. He also said he believes the fight will take place sometime in 2017.
