John Kavanagh, the head coach of UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor, has broken his silence since the announcment of McGregor fighting Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
On Wednesday, both Mayweahter and McGregor confirmed that they will be fighting each other. The two will fight in a 12-round fight at 154 pounds. The fight will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
“Here we go,” Kavanagh said in a Facebook post shortly after news broke of the fight being official.
McGregor will be making his professional debut when he steps into the ring with Mayweather.
Mayweather will be coming out of retirement when he fights McGregor in the 50th fight of his illustrious career. He has been retired for almost two years. He left the sport of boxing undefeated with 49 wins.
According to UFC President Dana White, Kavanagh is going to be busy for the rest of the year. White said on Wednesday, that he believes McGregor will fight in the UFC after he fights Mayweather. White expects the UFC champion to return to the octagon sometime in 2017.
