UFC President Dana White says a recent report from the L.A. Times is false.
The L.A. Times recently reported that White was not involved in the negotiations for a boxing match between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
“We live in a world right now where you can’t believe anything that you read,” White told TMZ. “Who else would be running the McGregor-Mayweather deal either than me?”
The L.A. Times report claimed that UFC owner Ari Emanuel, of WME-IMG, and Al Haymon, Mayweather’s manager, were doing the negotiations for the fight.
“What does WME know about making big fights,” White said. “Trust me, I’m running the McGregor-Mayweather deal.”
White and McGregor have already announced that they have agreed to terms to make the boxing match happen. As of right now, Mayweather has yet to officially accept the fight. All parties involved are hoping to make the fight happen sometime this year.
