Floyd Mayweather Breaks His Silence, Issues First Real Statement On Conor McGregor Fight

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor “Notorious” McGregor has locked in the payday of his career in a cross-promotional boxing match. “Notorious” is set to face off against undefeated boxing phenom Floyd Mayweather Jr. inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Aug. 26.

With both fighters having signed their sides of the contract, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has come forward with his statement on the highly anticipated match up.

In an interview with BSOTV, as transcribed by MMA Mania, Mayweather stated “McGregor is a tough competitor. People all around the world demanded this fight so I had to give them what they wanted to see. They asked for this fight. I was in retirement, but they wanted me back and I’m back.”
