Floyd “Money” Mayweather has confirmed that he is coming out of retirement to fight UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
On Wednesday, all parties involved confirmed that the fight is set to take place Aug. 26. On ESPN’s SportsCenter, UFC President Dana White announced the fight will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Mayweather sent out a tweet promoting his upcoming fight against McGregor. Mayweather’s tweet confirmed that the fight will be aired via Showtime pay-per-view. The advertisement showed no reference of the UFC being involved.
Mayweather will come out of retirement to fight in his 50th professional boxing match. He is currently undefeated with 49 wins.
McGregor will be making his boxing debut when he steps into the ring with Mayweather. The UFC champion is currently on a two-fight win streak. In his last fight, he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to win the UFC lightweight title.
