Former UFC commentator Mike Goldberg was let go from the UFC following the sale of the company to WME-IMG. Now, the commentator is set to make his commentating debut with Bellator MMA.
In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Mike Goldberg shed some light on what the past six months have been like for him and how things are with the UFC. According to the commentating veteran, things are fine with the mixed martial arts promotion.
“Yo know the last six months were as difficult as any period in my life. It was professional, not personal. What was difficult was that everybody I spoke to said, ‘Oh, it’s a no brainer Goldie. You would be great with us, let’s make this happen.'” Goldberg explained, before saying that it took some time to lock in the deal with Bellator MMA.
As far as what got the announcer through the six month period, Goldberg explained that his family was important, as well as the fans “What pushed my through it and what kept me motivated were the fans.”
As far as the UFC is conceerned, Goldberg claims things are fine. “Amends are made. Everything is good. I’ve had people from the UFC reach out and ask how I was doing.”
