Interim UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway is looking forward to competing in front of the hostile Brazilan fans.
On June 3, at UFC 212, Holloway will fight UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo in Rio de Janeiro.
“They’re not going to cheer for me,” Holloway told MMAjunkie. “Accept it. Move on. And live it. I live for moments like these. I can’t wait. When I was looking at crowd, half of them were saying it with a smile on their face. They didn’t mean it. They’re just going for their countryman.
“It was just cool. It was cool. I love the energy. I was feeding off the energy, and I just can’t wait for fight night to hear that – 15,000 people chanting that? It’s going to be amazing. So we’ll see on fight night. I can’t wait for it.”
Brazilian crowds are known for chanting “you’re going to die” in Portuguese to foreign fighters.
The hostile crowd should intensify for Holloway due to him fighting Aldo, who is one of the best Brazilian fighters to ever compete in the sport.
