UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping believes MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko has used performance-enhancing drugs.
Last Saturday, Emelianenko made his Bellator MMA debut. He was defeated by heavyweight contender Matt Mitrione by TKO.
Prior to the loss, Emelianenko was on a five-fight win streak, with all of his fights taking place in either Russia or Japan. Before his win streak, Emelianenko had lost three fights in a row, all of which took place in the U.S in the Strikeforce promotion.
“The reason for it is very simple, steroids,” Bisping said on a recent episode of his podcast. “I know from people that used to work for Pride that Pride used to, by the way, this is third-hand information, encourage some of their fighters to take steroids.”
Bisping claims that many fighters from the Pride organization haven’t done well in the UFC or in the U.S because they could no longer take steroids.
“I think, I’m not saying for gospel, I think Fedor was taking steroids,” Bisping said. “I would say that all signs would point in that direction because every time he came over to America he didn’t do well.”
