ONE Welterweight Champion Ben Askren has sent out a warning to the 170-pound fighters in Bellator MMA.
“The only real WW champion Bellator has ever had. I may bring the real WW belt to show those guys fighting for the fake one,” Askren said in a tweet.
Before joining ONE Championship, Askren was the Bellator welterweight champion. He left the promotion as the champion. He even successfully defended his title against current Bellator Welterweight Champion Douglas Lima. Askren also defended his title against the last Bellator welterweight champion Andrey Koreshkov.
Overall, Askren is undefeated in his MMA career with 16 wins. He is coming off a successful title defense against Agilan Thani. Askren submitted his opponent in the first round.
Askren also revealed he will be attending Bellator’s pay-per-view event on Saturday. It appears there may no longer be bad blood between Askren and the promotion.
