The mother of former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has passed away.
Jones’ brother, NFL star Arthur Jones, announced their mother’s death via Instagram on Tuesday.
“Mom, I love you so much! It’s hard to except the fact that my mother is not with me anymore she went to be with my sister in heaven,” Arthur Jones wrote on his Instagram page. “No more pain & suffering. Thank you for making me the man I am today! This Friday and Saturday will be the toughest weekend of my life. Please keep my family in your prayers.”
Jones is known for having a loving relationship with his mother. His mother was blind and after his earlier fights in the UFC, his mother would touch her son’s face to make sure he wasn’t hurt.
Jones’ mother is survived by her three sons Arthur, Jon, and Chandler, who also plays in the NFL.
Jones is currently preparing for his upcoming title fight in July. At UFC 214, on July 29, Jones will fight UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier in the main event.
