The UFC returned to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for one of the most highly anticipated fights of the year.
At UFC 212, UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway unified his title Interim UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway in the main event.
Before the main event took place, the UFC provided another night full of intriguing matchups.
The UFC Fight Pass prelims were headlined by undefeated strawweight contender Viviane Pereira as she fought Jamie Moyle.
Moyle landed a quick leg kick to start the fight. Moyle continued to throw leg kicks which allowed Pereira to catch a kick and attempt a takedown. Pereira managed to push Moyle to the fence but she struggled to get her to the ground. Eventually, the two fighters worked their way to the center of the cage and started trading punches. Pereira appeared to land the more significant shots. The round ended with Pereira going for a takedown but was not able to get her opponent to the ground.
The second round started with Pereira using her reach to keep Moyle at bay. For the majority of the middle round, Pereira was the aggressor and began producing damage onto Moyle. The round ended with Pereira knocking Moyle to the mat, and kicking her opponent while she was grounded.
The final round began with Pereira to continuing to land the cleaner shots. Moyle had success getting her opponent in a clinch, but could not produce much damage. Pereira was able to escape Moyle’s grappling attempts and continued to pick her apart. The round ended with Moyle continuing to battle but failing to stop Pereira’s offense.
