In less than 24 hours, two of the most highly anticipated fights on the UFC schedule were changed.
At UFC 214, on July 29, Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino will no longer be fighting Invicta Featherweight Champion Megan Anderson for the UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship. However, “Cyborg” will instead fight Invicta Bantamweight Champion Tonya Evinger for the UFC women’s featherweight title.
A highly anticipated welterweight battle between former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will no longer be taking place at UFC 213 on July 8.
Cerrone has suffered an injury and will not be able to compete on July 8. However, Cerrone is now expected to fight Lawler at UFC 214.
UFC fighters seemed to be happy and sad over the recent news. While some UFC fighters were ecstatic Evinger is finally getting her opportunity in the UFC, other fighters were upset because they’ll now have to wait even longer to see Lawler vs. Cerrone. Below, you can see how fighters reacted to all the news via Twitter.
Oh SHHIIIIIT!! Finally Evinger getting in the mix! She's deserved to be in the UFC since they started women's bantamweight. https://t.co/edHoReoT2d
