On Saturday the UFC returned to Singapore with an exciting Fight Night event featuring a plethora of former champions and top contenders.
In the main event, former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm went to battle against former title challenger Bethe Correia.
Holm was attempting to break a three-fight losing streak, while Correia was trying to continue her two-fight unbeaten streak.
Both women were reluctant to engage with each other to start the fight. Holm began using a side kick to Correia’s body. Holm landed a few more kicks, but neither woman produced much offense in the opening round. Correia landed a hook towards the end of the round.
Holm and Correia continued to be reluctant to throw strikes in the start of the second round. Holm continued to rely on her kicks but also began throwing more punching combinations. The side kick to Correia’s body was Holm’s favorite weapon in the opening rounds. The referee eventually stepped in and warned the fighters that they needed to engage. Correia began having success with her striking. At the end of the round, Correia secured Holm’s back but wasn’t able to do anything with the position.
Holm started the third round with a kick to the body. Correia began taunting Holm, who retaliated with a head kick that knocked out the Brazilian.
