UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping says his next fight will be against former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre.
“Sounds like me and Georges are still going to get it on,” Bisping said on a recent episode of UFC Tonight.
The UFC announced Bisping would defend his title against St-Pierre earlier this year, but canceled the fight due to St-Pierre not being able to fight until November.
However, Bisping is still dealing with a lingering knee injury and will not be able to fight until the end of the year as well.
With Bisping being injured, the UFC will be creating an interim middleweight title. Top contenders Yoel Romero and Robert Whittaker will fight for the championship at UFC 213 on July 8.
Even though there will be an interim title holder, Bisping still expects his next title defense to be against St-Pierre. However, UFC President Dana White disagrees.
White has come out and said St-Pierre’s next UFC fight will be for the welterweight championship. While Bisping will fight the interim middleweight champion.
Despite what White said, St-Pierre has said he has no interest fighting for the championship he already won and never lost.
