Wanderlei Silva will not be attending an upcoming press conference for Bellator: NYC on Thursday.
According to Bellator officials, Silva will not be attending due to being sick. This is the second press conference Silva will be missing for the event. A few weeks ago, Silva did not attend a press event in person and was instead live via satellite.
Silva is scheduled to fight Chael Sonnen in the main event of Bellator: NYC on June 24.
“It’s not exactly like Pavarotti blowing off Pagliacci,” Sonnen told MMAjunkie. “He wasn’t gonna add anything valuable anyway. I was gonna suggest that he go outside and wash my rental car while I dealt with the media.”
Bellator: NYC will be the first Bellator event to take place at the historic Madison Square Garden in New York City. The event is co-headlined by Fedor Emelianenko fighting Matt Mitrione.
