Ariel Helwani Reacts to Being Fired From the #MayMac Tour By the UFC

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor “Notorious” McGregor is gearing up to take on Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Aug. 26 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, the two fighters must first embark on a world tour to promote the intensely anticipated match up.

The first stop for the tour lands today, July 11, in Los Angeles, California. The event will be broadcast on Fox Sports 2 at 5:30 pm ET or the event may be watched through the free live stream provided by Showtime at 5:00 pm ET. However, it would appear that there has been a change in today’s broadcaster lineup.

Mauro Ranallo, Brendan Schaub, and Paulie Malignaggi will make up the three-man team for the day, as Ariel Helwani has been removed from the schedule. The reporter was removed from the event at the request of the UFC promotion.

Now, Ariel Helwani has provided his response over Twitter. Helwani stated, “Not working for @SHOsports anymore on the May/Mac tour. Just learned UFC specifically asked to have me removed. Incredibly disappointed.”
