UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping gave middleweight contender Robert Whittaker a hard time during a recent interview.
On Wednesday, Whittaker appeared on a live edition of UFC Tonight, which Bisping is one of the hosts.
Whittaker is currently scheduled to fight fellow middleweight contender Yoel Romero for an interim title in the co-main event of UFC 213. The winner between Whittaker and Romero is expected to fight Bisping in his next title defense.
Bisping went off on Whittaker fighting for an interim title. He called the interim title a “participation trophy and it is not worth the leather it is printed on.”
Whittaker did not get rattled by the champion’s trash talk. Throughout the interview, Whittaker kept his composure with a smile on his face.
Whittaker is unbeaten as a middleweight. He is currently on a seven-fight win streak and is coming off a knockout win over Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.
UFC 213 will take place July 8 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
