Retired professional boxer Paulie Malignaggi recently revealed some details on what it is like sparring with UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
Malignaggi was recently brought in to help McGregor train for his professional boxing debut. Next month, the UFC champion is scheduled to fight Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
“I felt OK,” Malignaggi said in a recent interview. “Eight rounds, good work. I can’t disclose too much but McGregor is no dummy. There’s a method to his madness.”
Malignaggi hinted that McGregor is going to bring his unique offense we’ve seen inside the cage into the boxing ring.
“He has an idea of what he wants to do and how he wants to do it. He’s not clueless,” Malignaggi said. “He’s not your conventional boxer by any means but he’s capable and his power is good. Whether that can be effective is up to him, but he’s no dummy!”
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
