Former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold is set to make his return to the UFC.
After not fighting in over a year, Rockhold is set to fight David Branch in the main event of a UFC Fight Night in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Sept. 16.
The UFC announced the pivotal middleweight matchup during Saturday’s UFC on FOX broadcast.
Rockhold has not fought since losing his UFC title in June 2016. At UFC 199, Rockhold got knocked out by current UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping.
Despite coming off of a loss, Rockhold is still one of the top middleweight contenders in the UFC. Rockhold won the UFC title in Dec. 2015 by defeating former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman by TKO.
Branch is a former World Series of Fighting middleweight and light heavyweight champion. He returned to the UFC in his last fight. In May, Branch earned a split decision win over Krzysztof Jotko.
