Dana White Bans Amanda Nunes From Ever Headlining A UFC Card Again

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) suffered a loss in its fight card for last night’s UFC 213. The event took place July 8, inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event was initially set to be UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes facing off against former opponent and rising challenger Valentina Shevchenko.

The main event was abruptly cancelled as Amanda Nunes fell ill. It was later revealed that the champion was cleared to fight by the mixed martial arts promotion’s medical staff. Now the UFC president is barring Amanda Nunes from any main event performances in the future.

In a recent interview with The Fight Life, UFC President Dana White touched on the sudden change of last night’s main event.

Speaking on Amanda Nunes pulling out of the match, Dana White stated “We would never ask anybody to fight, that wasn’t physically capable of fighting. She was physically capable of fighting. I just don’t know if she was mentally capable of fighting.”
