Although she’s already twelve-years into her professional fighting career, UFC strawweight Felice Herrig is rising through the UFC ranks at 32-years-of-age.
Its a late resurgence in her career, that’s seen her put together her first three-fight winning streak since 2013.
While on Monday’s edition of “The MMA Hour”, show host Ariel Helwani asked Felice what’s changed that’s seen her live up to expectations so late in her career.
To her credit, Felice blamed an eating disorder for only performing at what doctors told her was 50% of her ability.
She stated,
“I had a lot of eating disorders.”
“I was on a reality show ten years ago. It was all Muay Thai. I was walking around at around 117 [pounds] back then. Then I was on another show at 128 [pounds].”
“I went down that road, I wouldn’t say I was anorexic. But I wasn’t eating to perform.”
“There was a time when I was eating just a can of Tuna a day, and break it up into six meals.”
“I always knew that when it came time to fight something was off.”
