Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, believes UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor has a chance of defeating Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
In a recent interview, Ellerbe said it was ridiculous to think McGregor doesn’t have a chance of defeating Mayweather. He said Mayweather feels the same way and is taking the fight very seriously.
Ellerbe used the example of what happened to Manny Pacquiao earlier this month as a reason why McGregor has a shot at beating Mayweather. Pacquiao lost a close decision to Jeff Horn, who most people thought didn’t have a chance at defeating the boxing legend.
McGregor will be making his professional boxing debut against Mayweather. Despite having little boxing experience, McGregor is one of the best MMA fighters in the world. McGregor has used his knockout power to win two different UFC championships.
Mayweather is returning to the sport of boxing after being retired for almost two years to fight McGregor on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas.
