One of the best referees in the sport of mixed martial arts will officiate the upcoming interim UFC middleweight title fight between Yoel Romero and Robert Whittaker.
On Tuesday, referee “Big” John McCarthy confirmed he will be officiating the upcoming title fight.
Whittaker will fight Romero in the co-main event of UFC 213.
Both Whittaker and Romero are unbeaten in the middleweight division.
Romero has not lost in the UFC and is currently on an eight-fight win streak. In his last fight, Romero knocked out former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman.
Overall, Romero’s win streak includes wins over Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Lyoto Machida, Tim Kennedy, Derek Brunson, and Brad Tavares.
Whittaker is currently on a seven-fight win streak in the UFC. He is coming off a knockout win over Souza back in April.
Whittaker also has victories over Brunson and Tavares. His win streak includes notable middleweight wins against Rafael Natal and Uriah Hall.
UFC 213 will take place Saturday, July 8 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
