Robert Whittaker has become the first fighter from New Zealand to win UFC gold.
On Saturday, Whittaker won the interim UFC middleweight title by defeating Yoel Romero in the main event of UFC 213.
Romero and Whittaker fought in an exciting back-and-forth battle that saw both fighters shine throughout the fight.
Romero seemed to get the better of Whittaker in the first two rounds, but as the fight went on Whittaker proved to be the better fighter on that particular night.
In the end, Whittaker did just enough to earn himself a unanimous decision victory.

With Whittaker winning the interim title, he is now next in line to fight UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping for the undisputed title at 185 pounds.
