The UFC returned to New York on Saturday for a UFC on FOX event. This was the first UFC event to be held on Long Island.
The FOX prelims opened with a heavyweight battle between Damian Grabowski and Chase Sherman.
Both heavyweights came out swinging to start the fight. Sherman appeared to have more success with his strikes early in the fight. Grabowski struggled to land early in the round. Sherman later landed a nasty knee to the head. Sherman went on to land combinations while Grabowski struggled to land consecutive blows. Sherman unloaded on his opponent to finish the round.
Sherman continued to land strikes to start off the second round. Grabowski managed to land punches of his own, but Sherman continued to land the more significant shots. Both fighters had success landing combinations as the round went on. The round ended with both fighters landing punches, kicks, and knees up against the cage.
Grabowski landed the first punches of the final round. Sherman responded by landing jabs. Grabowski shot for a takedown and briefly got Sherman to the mat. Both fighters continued to trade punches in the center of the cage. Grabowski started to have more success with his strikes, but Sherman had no problems retaliating. The fight ended with both heavyweights trading blows inside the Octagon.
