UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino called out a fighter who hasn’t fought in eight years.
On Wednesday, “Cyborg” called out women’s MMA pioneer Gina Carano.
After seeing that former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre signed a bout agreement to return to the UFC, “Cyborg” responded by saying Carano’s return to the sport would be just as big as St-Pierre’s.
“If (Gina Carano) came back it would be as big of a moment 4 the sport! If Carano wanted a fight at 155 I would do the superfight rematch at LW,” Justino said on Twitter.
In Carano’s last MMA fight, back in 2009, she fought “Cyborg” for the inaugural Strikeforce Featherweight Championship. Justino won the fight by TKO in the final seconds of the first round.
In her last fight, “Cyborg” won the vacant UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship by defeating Tonya Evinger by TKO at UFC 214. Since winning the title, Justino has called out Carano and former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm for her next fight.
