UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor admits that he has been thinking about with Floyd “Money” Mayweather since he was a kid.
During a recent interview with Showtime, McGregor said a fight with Mayweather was on his radar since the first time he heard Mayweather talk negatively about the sport of mixed martial arts.
“I certainly paid attention when he spoke ill of mixed martial arts multiple times back in the day,” McGregor said. “As a young kid dedicating my whole life to this craft, listening to someone at such a high pinnacle talking down about it. He became on my radar at that moment.”
On Saturday, McGregor will make his professional boxing debut against Mayweather. The UFC champion will get a chance at revenge for Mayweather’s comments in the past by ruining his perfect 49-0 record.
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
