Up until last Saturday, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao was the world’s most watched fight with 4.3 million pay-per-view buys.
It’s a record no one ever expected to break, and even in the lead up to last Saturday’s Mayweather vs. McGregor bout, many executives weren’t predicting a new record.
However, in a new video posted to Urijah Faber’s Instagram story, the UFC president and Urijah reveal just how many buys MayMac brought in.
In the video, which we can’t post due to instagram limitations, White said the fight got 6.5 million buys. Faber then confirms with Dana by saying, ‘wow! 6.5 million?’.
And though not an official statement, we can conclude that if White and Faber are candidly discussing buy rates, these numbers have to be pretty accurate.
