GSP’s Next Opponent Already Set, Will Remain At 185 With Win Over Bisping

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has finally snagged a fight date for his anticipated octagon return. Now, the former champion has revealed what comes after his octagon return title fight.

Georges St-Pierre will be ascending to the middleweight division to take on UFC middleweight champion Michael “The Count” Bisping for the title at UFC 217. Now it would appear that “Rush” will likely be staying in the new division following his return bout.

On today’s edition of The MMA Hour, St-Pierre revealed that he is currently in a contract with the UFC that obligates him to defend his title, if he defeats Bisping.

“It is written in my contract that I have to defend my title. If I win… I think it’s Whittaker that is going to be the guy.” St-Pierre stated.

Division contender Robert Whittaker is currently riding an eight fight winning streak, having most recently earned a unanimous decision victory over Yoel Romero at UFC 213.
