Back in 2015, UFC megastar Conor McGregor earned his first UFC title. The fighter faced off against now former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo for the title. With a swift first round knockout finish, Conor McGregor was crowned the new title holder of the featherweight division. Now, the fighter is preparing to take on Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a highly anticipated cross-promotional match up. That being said, Jose Aldo does not appear too happy about it.
In an interview with Fight Hype, as transcribed by MMA Fighting, Jose Aldo said “McGregor has no respect for the sport, for the person. That’s it. He’s not good for the sport.” The fighter stated, when referencing McGregor’s treatment of former sparring partner Paul Malignaggi.
Commenting on the UFC champion’s incipient match with Mayweather, Aldo said “With the money he will get from this fight, he will never fight again. Not MMA, not boxing, nothing.”
