Former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi recently ran into boxing referee Joe Cortez and things got awkward.
Cortez was the third man in the ring when Malignaggi sparred with UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
When the two men saw each other, Malignaggi told Cortez to tell the truth about what happened between him and McGregor. Cortez responded by smiling and walking away from Malignaggi.
After seeing Cortez, Malignaggi did an interview and claimed Cortez wouldn’t tell the truth because he was being paid by McGregor.
Malignaggi sparred with McGregor on two separate occasions. During their second sparring session, there was a moment when Malignaggi fell to the ground. McGregor and his team claim he knocked Malignaggi to the ground, while the former boxing champion claims he was pushed down.
McGregor made his professional boxing debut last Saturday against Floyd “Money” Mayweather. McGregor looked impressive early in the fight and won a few rounds, but in the end, Mayweather defeated McGregor in the 10th round by TKO.
