It appears former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler and Jorge Masvidal will compete for an interim UFC welterweight title.
UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley is currently suffering from a lingering shoulder injury and will need some time to recover.
In the meantime, the UFC has approached both Lawler and Masvidal about fighting each other for an interim title.
The fight would take place at UFC 217, which will take place Nov. 4 at the historic Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Last Saturday, Woodley successfully defended his title by winning a decision against top contender Demian Maia.
On the same night, Lawler earned a decision win over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
Masvidal is coming off a decision loss to Demian Maia back in May. Prior to that fight, Masvidal knocked out Cerrone.
UFC 217 will feature a middleweight title fight between UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping and former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre.
Sources from both camps confirmed that they were approached with a Masvidal vs. Lawler Interim title fight or ufc 217 while Tyron heals
