Last night in front of millions of fans watching at home, Floyd Mayweater finished UFC champion Conor McGregor in round 10 of their mega-fight.
It was the last fight of Floyd’s storied career, and the biggest fight in sporting history.
For Floyd, it’s a storybook ending. He broke records. The gate record, the pay-per-view record and his own personal earnings record, all on Saturday night.
For a fighter, going 50-0 in professional contests and breaking that record as well, is the perfect ending to a hall-of-fame career.
But he needed a dance partner, and Conor McGregor was the only man to aid Mayweather in breaking all these records.
Conor now carries the torch as the last major pay-per-view draw still actively fighting in combat sports. Following Floyd’s victory speech to the media, he passed the torch to McGregor, who’s now the king of pay-per-view.
