It appears former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi has been removed from doing coverage for Showtime Sports for the upcoming boxing match between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor. That’s because he wasn’t there today in his usual seat. Instead, it was Mauro Ranallo filling the third chair on today’s analyst panel.
On Wednesday, Malignaggi was absent from doing Showtime coverage of the final press conference between Mayweather and McGregor.
During the other press conferences for Mayweather vs. McGregor, Malignaggi was the boxing expert doing analysis of the fight. For the final press conference, Malignaggi was replaced by commentator Mauro Ranallo.
On Tuesday, Malignaggi got into a heated argument with McGregor at the grand arrivals in front of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
There is clearly still bad blood between Malignaggi and McGregor from their time as sparring partners. Malignaggi left McGregor’s training camp after not liking the way he was treated. McGregor’s team had released photos of the UFC champion landing hard shots on Malignaggi.
With Malignaggi clearly having personal issues with McGregor, it appears Showtime may have decided to remove him from doing coverage of Saturday’s fight.
