UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic believes the current No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC is ducking him.
On Thursday, Miocic shared a link on his Facebook of a story about UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones ducking a fight against the heavyweight champion.
Jones regained his title last Saturday after knocking out Daniel Cormier at UFC 214. After the fight, Jones challenged former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar.
With the heavyweight division not having any clear top contenders for the title, Jones could have asked for an opportunity at the heavyweight title, but instead he challenged a fighter who has only fought once in the last six years.
Miocic is currently ranked No. 4 in the official UFC pound-for-pound rankings. All of Miocic’s heavyweight title fights have ended in the first round by knockout.
In May 2016, Miocic won the heavyweight title by knocking out Fabricio Werdum. In September, he defended his title for the first time against Alistair Overereem. In his last fight, Miocic defeated Junior dos Santos back in May.
