On Saturday, the UFC returned to Mexico for a UFC Fight Night filled with intriguing matchups.
In the co-main event, Mexico native Alexa Grasso fought to prove she is one of the top 115-pound fighters in the world when she squared off against strawweight contender Randa Markos.
Grasso started the fight with a body kick. Markos responded with some hard punches. Grasso and Markos traded punches in the center of the cage. Neither woman was hesitant to engage with the other. Grasso unloaded with punches on Markos. Grasso then engaged a clinch and got Markos against the cage. Markos went for a takedown but ended up giving up her back. Markos fought her way back to her feet to finish the round.
Both women landed offense early in the second round. Markos went for a takedown, but Grasso reversed the position and got to her feet. Markos went for another takedown and was successful. Grasso quickly got back up. Grasso went for a kick, but Markos caught it and took her to the ground. Markos then secured top position. Eventually, Grasso fought her way back to her feet. Once again, a kick attempt by Grasso led to Markos getting a takedown. On the ground, Grasso reversed the position and got on top. Markos managed to fight her way back on top and started landing hard ground and pound to finish the round.
Both women landed punches to start the final round. Markos landed a flurry of punches that stumbled Grasso. Markos went for a takedown, but Grasso stayed on her feet. On her next takedown attempt, Markos got Grasso on the mat. Grasso got back to her feet and began landing strikes. Markos went for a takedown, but Grasso jumped up and went for a guillotine. Markso escaped and both women threw punches at each other to end the fight.
