On Saturday, the UFC returned to Mexico for a UFC Fight Night filled with intriguing matchups.
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans fought in his second middleweight fight in the UFC when he fought Sam Alvey.
Evans started the fight with a hard leg kick. Evans then went for a takedown but Alvery stayed on his feet. Against the fence, Evans continued to fight for a takedown. Eventually, Evans got the fight to the ground. Alvey fought his way to his feet. Alvey struggled to land his punches. In the final seconds, Evans went for another takedown but ran out of time.
Evans started the second round with another hard leg kick. Evans later landed a kick to the body. Alvey answered with a right hand. Both fighters struggled to land. Evans went for a takedown and got Alvey to the mat. Alvey got back to his feet but Evans kept him against the cage. In the final minute, Alvey fought his way free. The round ended with Alvey stopping a takedown and throwing punches at Evans.
Both fighters traded strikes in the early part of the final round. Evans later landed a clean left hook. Evans then got Alvey against the cage, but Alvey fought his way free. Later in the round, Evans landed a right hand and went for a takedown, but Alvey stuffed it. Alvey controlled the cage throughout the round. Evans landed a hard right hand that stunned Alvey. Evans went for a takedown in the final minute but Alvey once again stopped it. The fight ended with both fighters throwing punches.
