It appears UFC fans were close to seeing a super fight at the end of the year.
On Tuesday, UFC President Dana White said the UFC was working on making a super fight between UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic in December at UFC 218.
However, it was also revealed on Tuesday that Jones has once again tested positive for a banned substance in a drug test given to him by the U.S Anit-Doping Agency.
With Jones failing another drug test, not only is it not possible for him to fight again this year, but it is unknown whether or not Jones will even make a return to the sport.
Prior to regaining his title last month, Jones was suspended the previous year due to a failed drug test in July 2016. With his multiple offenses, it is likely Jones will be suspended for multiple years, which could lead to the end of his career.
Dana says they were looking at Jones vs. Miocic in Detroit before today's news.
