Another UFC fighter has decided to leave the cage in order to compete inside a boxing ring.
UFC veteran Nam Phan is scheduled to fight in a boxing match on Sept. 9. He will fight on the undercard of the upcoming title fight between Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. The event will air live on HBO.
Phan will be fighting Nick Frese, who is an undefeated boxing prospect with a record of 5-0.
Phan has competed as a professional boxer on six different occasions. The former Ultimate Fighter contestant has a record of 3-2-1 as a boxer.
In his last MMA fight, Phan lost to fellow UFC veteran Robert Whiteford at an ACB event back in March.
Overall, Phan has a 21-17 MMA record. His UFC career is highlighted by his two “Fight of the Night” performances against Leonard Garcia. He was cut from the UFC after losing three fights in a row against Dennis Siver, Takeya Mizugaki, and Vaughn Lee.
