In October 2013 one of the most exciting fights in UFC history took place at UFC 166 when Gilbert Melendez fought Diego Sanchez.
While there have been many exciting fights to take place inside the Octagon, the third round between Melendez and Sanchez may be the most action-packed five-minutes to ever take place in the UFC.
Both fighters showed a lot of heart and toughness by standing right in front of each other and trading punches. In the end, Melendez earned a unanimous decision victory, and both fighters earned “Fight of the Night” bonuses.

Since his win against Sanchez, Melendez has gone on a three-fight losing streak in the UFC. He lost a title fight against Anthony Pettis, followed by decision losses to Eddie Alvarez and Edson Barboza.
Melendez is currently preparing to make his featherweight debut in the UFC. On Sept. 9, Melendez will fight featherweight contender Jeremy Stephens at UFC 215 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
