After losing his professional boxing debut against Floyd “Money” Mayweather, people are curious as to what will be next for UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
On Tuesday’s edition of Stud Radio, members of Team Alpha Male share their thoughts on what will be next for the popular UFC fighter.
TAM featherweight Lance Palmer, who is also a former two-time WSOF featherweight champion, thinks McGregor’s next fight will be a third fight against Nate Diaz. He also doesn’t think McGregor will ever defend his championship.
“I don’t think he’ll ever defend his belt though,” Palmer said. “He’s never defended a belt in his entire career. Cage Warriors, two belts, no defenses. UFC, two belts, no defenses. I think he does the trilogy, and next year he vacates the 155-pound belt and fights GSP (Georges St-Pierre) at 170 (pounds).”
The host of Stud Radio, Sir Studboy, went to say that McGregor should fight the winner of the upcoming interim lightweight title fight between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee at UFC 216 on Oct. 7. He also said he thinks things will be different when McGregor competes in the UFC.
“I think you see McGregor changing the model as far as he’s going to be more in charge of what the fight is,” Sir Studboy said. “You’ll have a UFC and then you’ll have a Conor event.”
