The UFC has announced a pivotal flyweight battle that will take place on Dec. 16
Former title challenger Tim Elliot will fight Justin Scoggins at a UFC on FOX event in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Elliott is currently ranked No. 9 in the official UFC flyweight rankings. He is coming off an upset loss to Ben Nguyen in June. In his previous outing, Elliot earned “Fight of the Night” honors for his decision win over Louis Smolka.
Elliott returned to the UFC last year as part of The Ultimate Fighter. Elliott won the competition and earned a shot at the UFC title, but was unable to dethrone UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson.
Scoggins returned to the flyweight division in his last fight and was submitted by Ulka Sasaki. Overall, Scoggins is currently on a two-fight losing streak. In his last fight at bantamweight, Scoggins was submitted by Pedro Munhoz.
Prior to his recent losses, Scoggins earned a decision win over upcoming title challenger Ray Borg.
