The UFC is continuing to add fights to an already massive UFC 217 card from New York City on November 4th. The latest fight to be announced is a big lightweight match up between Joe Duffy and James Vick.
James Vick is currently riding a two-fight win streak and has only stumbled once against Beniel Dariush last year giving him an impressive 7-1 record inside the octagon.
Meanwhile, Duffy had been renegotiating his contract with the UFC and had just closed a deal he was finally happy with but still voiced his concern about fighter pay prior to signing his new seven fight deal.
“I know a lot of people compare the different sports, and we’re getting paid nowhere near them guys, but another thing to tell you – I see some of the guys coming in who’s relatively experienced, fighting guys who’s not that experienced also, and getting paid far more,” Duffy said.
“I think Sage [Northcutt] made 40 ad 40 and I’m sure TJ [Dillashaw] only made 25 and 25 in his last fight and he’s a former champion, so I think if you don’t make a stand you’re never going to get paid what you’re worth. I don’t feel I’m a greedy person but I know to secure my future, and I’m putting my body on the line and my health on the line,” he added. One shot and it could all be over so I need to get to the point where I can start moving forward and my future isn’t a worry.”
Duffy has also been very impressive during his time in the octagon currently boasting a 4-1 record in the promotion and is also currently riding a two-fight win streak . He last fought a very tough Reza Madadi this past March, where he won via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 107.
UFC 217 will be headlined by the return of Georges St. Pierre to challenge UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping for his title.
