UFC flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty” Johnson was set to headline this weekend’s UFC 215 event.
If victorious he would have surpassed Anderson Silva’s title defense record.
The new UFC record seemed all but a lock for the longtime champion, until his opponent Ray Borg pulled out on less than 24-hours notice thanks to a sudden illness.
The UFC doctors examined the title challenger and deemed him unfit to compete.
Now the champion’s coach Matt Hume recently took to his facebook to let the fans know how Johnson is handling the news.
In his post he stated,
“We are beyond disappointed that we won’t be able to accomplish the goal this Saturday, but the end result is inevitable. We will refocus and show the world the greatest Mixed Martial Artist that ever existed. To be continued…”
