One of the UFC’s top lightweight contenders is planning on moving to the featherweight division.
On Friday, Michael Johnson announced that he is thinking about moving down to 145 pounds.
During a fan Q&A in Rotterdam, Johnson said he is contemplating moving to a different weight class due to him fighting most of the top 10 guys currently in the lightweight division.
Johnson went on to say that he is interested in a fight against former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo.
In the video below, you can listen to Johnson talk about potentially moving to the featherweight division.
Johnson is currently ranked No. 9 in the UFC lightweight rankings. He is currently on a two-fight losing streak. In his last fight, he lost a fight of the year contender against Justin Gaethje. Before that fight, he was coming off a submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Johnson has also fought top lightweight contenders such as Tony Ferguson, Nate Diaz, Edson Barboza, Dustin Poirier, and Beneil Dariush.
