It would seem that a new rivalry may be forming in the UFC’s lightweight division. This time, division contender Tony Ferguson and UFC newcomer Justin Gaethje have entered a heated exchange over social media.
Tony Ferguson is set to make an attempt for the UFC lightweight interim title. “El Cucuy” was initially set to make a run for the interim title against Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, “The Eagle” was rushed to the hospital after suffering weight management issues. As a result, the fight was pulled.
Now, Tony Ferguson will face off against Kevin Lee at UFC 216 on Oct. 7 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. However, it would seem that Ferguson is already clashing heads with another fighter from the division.
Justin Gaethje put on an impressive octagon debut when he took out Michael Johnson with a second round TKO. Now, with only a single UFC fight to his name, Gaethje already has his sights on the division’s top competitors.
Check out Gaethje and Ferguson’s Twitter exchange below:
Tony Ferguson: “Not Much For Shit Talking, But Man… The Top 5 In This Division Are A Bunch Of Pussies. All Talk No Walk. Atleast @MoTownPhenom Has Heart.”
Justin Gaethje: “? we better watch out for that ankle pick!”
Justin Gaethje: “I would break his fucken legs”
Tony Ferguson: “‘Go For It…’ I’ll End Your Career You Fake Fucker. Quit Tryin’ To Be Relevant. More Respect For The Up & Coming Fighters Being Real.”
