On November 4th, the UFC will make their return to New York’s Madison Square Garden with their next mega-stacked-event.
Of course, like with all UFC events this year, we never know what kind of card we’ll actually get come fight night. Missed weights, illnesses and injuries plague nearly every single event, and UFC 217 is now no different.
While the majority of the card has so far remained intact, we now have our first fight cancellation.
Fan favorite light-heavyweight Patrick Cummins has just announced that a battle with a staph infection has forced him out of his scheduled bout. Cummins was scheduled to fight TUF winner Corey Anderson on the night’s preliminary card.
The UFC has not made a statement on the latest fight cancellation, as news was just made public. We do not know if the UFC will attempt to find a replacement for Anderson or scrap him off the card entirely.
Here’s Cummins’ statement:
“IV antibiotics haven’t touched my mutant staph infection #UFC217 isn’t gunna happen for me. Sorry everyone #FuckMRSA #SucksButItCanAlwaysBeWorse”
Let’s hope this is the one and only UFC 217 complication.
