Breaking: UFC Gets Werdum a Replacement for UFC 216 on Three Hours Notice

It has been reported that UFC heavyweights Fabricio Werdum and Derrick Lewis will no longer be competing on tonight’s UFC 216 main card, as Derrick Lewis has suffered an injury. That being said, it would appear that the UFC has managed to find a replacement for Fabricio Werdum on just hours notice.

UFC 216 goes down tonight, Oct. 7, inside the Madison Square Garden Arena in New York. In the night’s main event, UFC lightweight contenders Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee will battle it out for the interim title. UFC 216 will also feature a title fight co-main event, as UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson is looking to break the UFC record for most consecutive title defenses in his fight against Ray Borg.

After it was revealed that Derrick Lewis has been injured, UFC.Com writer Damon Martin reported:

“Fabricio Werdum will now fight Walt Harris on the UFC 216 PPV main card#UFC216”

Walt Harris was initially set to face off against Mark Godbeer in the night’s preliminary card.
